The Farm

Highdown is a 450 acre organic dairy farm overlooking the Culm Valley.  It forms part of the ‘Manor of Bradninch’ which is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall.  It is very much a family farm & is run by my husband Graham & our two daughters Laura & Emily.  We have farmed here for over 30 years & have 180 dairy cows.  Their milk is sold to the Organic Milk Suppliers Co-op (Omsco).  Our cows calve between February & April,  if you visit at this time of year you are likely to see lots of little baby calves!   You will be welcome to watch the afternoon milking by prior arrangement.

Dairy farming is our main enterprise, but in the orchard next to the cottages you will be able to make friends with chickens, three cheeky Pygora goats & sometimes some pigs!   We also have two ponies – Toast & Merlin.  Younger children are very welcome to have a ride on little Merlin our Shetland pony.

There are some lovely walks through our fields and on the local footpaths & bridleways.  There is a huge variety of wildlife in the area & you may be able to spot rabbits, foxes, pheasants, buzzards & many other wild birds whilst out exploring.
